Aktuell 2023/24: Bis zur Jahreswende zum Jahr 2024 sind mit 1,7 Millionen afghanischen Menschen aus Pakistan zu rechnen welche Pakistan zwangsläufig verlassen müssen. Auch wenn die pakistanische Regierung von über vier Millionen Ausreispflichtigen Afghanen spricht, ist vorerst mit den besagten 1,7 Mio. "akut ausreisepflichtigen" mittelfristig zu rechnen die ab 2024 in den pakistanischen Einwohnerzahlen nicht mehr einbezogen sind. M.d.Z. versucht je nach Provinz in Pakistan die angepassten Zahlen zu ermitteln als Schätzwert für 2024. Pakistan ist eines der dynamischsten Länder überhaupt mit einem allgemein sehr starken Bevölkerungswachstum - vor allem was die Städte betrifft. Waren es im Jahr 2020 neun Millionenstädte im Land, werden es 2050 mit 32 mehr als dreimal so viele sein. Auch verdoppeln und verdreifachen sich in diesem Zeitraum die Einwohnerzahlen nahezu aller Klein, Mittel und Großstädte im Land was gewaltige Baumaßnahmen und noch größere Anstrengungen im Ausgleich nachhaltiger sowie umweltverträglicher Urbanisierung bedeutet.
Besonders auffällig entwickeln sich die drei Maga-Zentren Karachi, Lahore und - später Islamabad-Rawalpindi; mit 45 Millionen Menschen (stand 2023) insgesamt leben in diesen drei Städten etwas mehr wie die Hälfte von ganz Deutschland. Im Jahr 2050 werden es mit 95 Millionen sogar mehr Menschen als ganz Deutschland sein, sowie ca. 29% der pakistanischen Bevölkerung.
Neben der demographischen Größe sind auch die wirtschaftlichen Aussichten interessant: Mit einem Mittelstand von 35 Millionen Menschen (Ca. 15% der Gesamtbevölkerung) im Jahr 2020 stellt Pakistan schon gegenwärtig eine größere Wirtschaftsmacht da. Im Jahr 2050 könnten mit ca. 113 Millionen Mittelstandsbewohner (um 35% der Gesamtbevölkerung) zwar immernoch ein starkes soziales Gefälle im Land bestehen, jedoch in seinen Wiedersprüchen auf allen Ebenen bestehen; 25% der Pakistaner leben im Jahr 2050 in Armut und weitere 40% sind Auskommend - verfügen also über alle Lebensnotwendigen Grundlagen (Lebensmittelsicherheit, fester Wohnsitz, Grundversorgung für Gesundheit). Die übrigen besagten "oberen" 35% sind Wohlhabend (geregelte höhere Einkommen, hohes Konsumaufkommen, international Reisefähig) mit einer Zahl von mindestens 100 Mio. (maximal 150 Mio.) im Jahr 2050.
Somit bleibt Pakistan auch in fernerer Zukunft sehr wahrscheinlich ein Land mit vielen sozialen Realitäten nebeneinander; Naturkatastrophen und erhebliche soziale Spannungen - ob wirtschaftlich oder religiös/ethnisch, sind als sicher voherzusehen. Eine sich schwieriger entwickelnde Lage in der Landwirtschaft wegen Dürren und (jährlichen) Überschwemmungen bildet eine weitere Grundlage zur schnelleren Urbanisierung. Nahezu in jedem Bereich sind und werden gewaltige Aufholeffekte stattfinden; moderner Städtebau sowie eine komplette nationale Infrastruktur für eine Bevölkerung welche absehbar die Größe jener der USA des Jahres 2020 erreicht zeigen auf, das Pakistan eines der wichtigsten Länder der Zukunft ist.
Dennoch bleibt ein flächendeckender Wohlstand für Pakistan auch langfristig unwahrscheinlich, die (traditionell) gesellschaftlichen sowie demographischen Probleme (massives Bevölkerungswachstum) verhindern eine schnelle Transformation in einer klassische Wohlstandsgesellschaft. Klimatische sowie Ressourcen-relevante Aspekte stellen das stark wachsende Land vor zusätzlichen nahezu unlösbare Aufgaben.
Ein Weg stellt deshalb für sehr viele Pakistaner die Migration da; Mit rund 10 Millionen Auslands-Pakistaner stellt das Land bereits im Jahr 2020 eine der größten Migranten Gruppen in der Welt. Bis ins Jahr 2050 könnten noch dreimal so viele hinzukommen. Nach eigenen Berechnungen wandern (von 2020 bis 2050) mindestens 35 Millionen Menschen aus Pakistan aus. Genauso viele kommen nochmals als temporäre Wanderarbeiter oder international mobile Expats hinzu, deren Lebensmittelpunkt jedoch in Pakistan bestehen bleibt. Wegen der ebenfalls stark wachsenden Wirtschaft bildet das große Land auch umgekehrt einen Zielort für viele Zuwanderer aus der ganzen Welt; zwischen 15 und 20 Millionen Zuwanderer von außerhalb des Landes ist bis ins Jahr 2050 zu rechnen; vor allem aus Afghanistan, Bangladesch und China werden sich viele Migranten in die umfangreiche Wirtschaft Pakistans integrieren. Jedoch dürfte ausgerechnet aus dem rivalisierenden Indien der größte Anteil kommen: Mit fünf bis acht Millionen indischen Zuwanderern kommen vor allem jene nach Pakistan, welche in einen nahezu identischen Kulturraum als Muslime einwandern, der in Indien unter oft anderen, sozialen schwierigeren Umständen besteht. Indische Muslime stellen ein gewaltiges Potential zukünftiger Zuwanderer nach Pakistan da. Umgekehrt ist jedoch der riesige Arbeitsmarkt in Indien selbst für pakistanische Migranten sehr interessant, da es neben den vielen Gegenpositionen zu Indien in Pakistan auch zahlreiche liberale Vertreter gibt, mit verbindenden Optionen und einen regen Austausch zwischen die beiden großen Nachbarländer.
Die Migration aus Pakistan hinaus bleibt bei aller Entwicklung zum Positiven weiterhin von Bestand; langfristig ist sogar zu erwarten, dass nach dem Jahr 2050 das Land bereits deutlich langsamer wächst, da vor allem wegen der klimatischen Situation - auch wohlhabende Pakistaner, in klimagünstigere Länder abwandern. Auch dann werden es vor allem Ziel-Regionen wie Europa und Nordamerika sein.
