Wie nahezu alle anderen Länder Westeuropas, ist Deutschland - besonders in Zukunft - ein Schwerpunkt-Ziel internationaler Migration. Aufgrund stark wachsender Populationen neuer Mittelschichten in schnell expandierenden Ländern, besonders in Asien und Afrika, entsteht ein gewaltiges Potential mobiler Neubürger die zukünftig einen Großteil der Zuwanderer deutscher Metropolen darstellen werden.
Deshalb ist es wahrscheinlich, dass die zukünftige Einwohnerzahl Deutschlands durch Migration sehr viel höher sein kann, als von offiziellen Prognosen beschrieben; mit über 92 Millionen Einwohnern im Jahr 2060.
Deutschland hat schon aktuell einen großen Bedarf an jungen und neuen Zuwanderern/Bürgern um eine schnell alternde Gesellschaft zu versorgen - in Zukunft immer umfassender, aufwändiger und technisch anspruchsvoller. Diese aktuelle Gegebenheit setzt sich sehr wahrscheinlich bis zum Jahr 2060 fort. Zudem bleibt der technische Wohlstandserhalt auch langfristig personalintensiv weshalb Gesellschaft, Wirtschaft und Politik zunehmend die globale Migration nach Deutschland fördert.
Sehr unterschiedlich entwickeln sich die Bevölkerungszahlen in den verschiedenen Regionen, wo starke Metropolzentren nach wie vor schnell wachsen; Frankfurt und München bleiben wohl führend in der Dynamik, sowie Berlin, Hamburg, Stuttgart und Köln, die weitaus mehr anwachsen als offiziell in den (politisch gewollten) moderaten Prognosen berichtet wird. Ländliche Räume hingegen bleiben auch in Zukunft weniger im Fokus, was im Rahmen technischer Neuerungen wie autonom fahrende/mobile Versorgung (Selbstfahrende Liefer/Kranken/Personenwagen) wiederum günstiger wird, und ein strengerer Landschaftsschutz im ländlichen Kontext, bessere Lebensbedingungen abseits der verdichteten (Groß)Städte einen Ausgleich schafft. Im Gegensatz dazu schaffen dichtere und höher bevölkerte Städte eine räumliche Konzentration zahlreicherer Menschen, was (schon heute) die unmittelbar angrenzenden Stadtumräume zwingt, als Siedlungsgebiet zu expandieren und/oder im Stadtinnern zu verdichten. Deshalb ist es sehr wichtig schon heute an weitaus höhere Einwohnerzahlen in den Großstädten zu denken/planen für die fernere Zukunft.
Insgesamt leben in den (Stand 2020) acht Millionenmetropolen Deutschlands 19,45 Mio Menschen. Das sind die Städte Berlin, Hamburg, Ruhrstadt (Ruhrgebiet) Düsseldorf, Köln, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, sowie München, also die Kernstädte mit ihren unmittelbaren Nebenstädten in einer urbanen geografisch geschlossenen Ortsform.
30 Jahre später (2050) werden es 30,9 Mio Metropolenbewohner sein, (mit Hannover und Bremen mit je 970.000 Einw.) - ein Nettozuwachs von 11,4 Millionen, während die Einwohnerzahl in ganz Deutschland um rund vier Millionen im gleichen Zeitraum zunimmt. Zukünftiges Städtewachstum sowohl auch das generelle Bevölkerungswachstum im Land, generiert sich nahezu ausschließlich über Zuwanderung aus dem Ausland, wo Metropolen in Deutschland an Popularität als Zielort deutlich dominieren.
Interessanterweise lassen Vergleiche mit anderen Metropolen der Welt ein stärkeres Anwachsen deutscher Millionenstädte als durchaus möglich erscheinen; wo z.B. in München pro Quadratkilometer (km²) 4.813 Menschen leben (1,497 Mio auf 311 km² der Stadt München/Stand 2024) - bei der bekanntlich besten Lebensqualität, als auch das urbane Umland der Stadt, Dachau, Fürstenfeldbruck oder Vaterstetten, sind nahezu erweiterte "Stadtteile" der Metropole und werden besonders in Zukunft stark expandieren auf insgesamt 2.755.000 Einwohner als "Metropole München" im Jahr 2050. Das sind dann 3.842 Einwohner je km² die beispielsweise zum Vergleich mit anderen, europäische Metropolen wie Paris (Kernstadt Paris: 21.428 Einwohner je km²) oder Brüssel (10.265 je km²) noch im unteren Mittelmaß liegen. Auch extreme Beispiele wie Hongkong (52.000 Einwohner je km² - 4,3 Mio Ew. auf 82 km²) oder Singapur (8.570 Menschen je km²) zeigen dass eine hohe Lebensqualität nicht im Widerspruch zur Dichte oder "Enge" einer Stadtlandschaft stehen muss.
Letztlich sind es die neuen Zuwanderer der Zukunft die noch ganz andere Stadtgebilde gewöhnt sind; so sind es sehr viele Übersiedler aus Lagos (Nigeria) Delhi (Indien) oder Shanghai (China) die in deutschen Großstädten heute, und besonders in Zukunft, ein garantiert entspannteres Leben vorfinden.
Auch kleinere Städte haben in Zukunft regional sehr verschiedene Entwicklungen zu erwarten; so steigen die Bevölkerungen von Bonn, Freiburg oder Münster ähnlich stark wie jene der führenden Metropolen, nur eben deutlich unter dem Millionenbereich. Hannover, Nürnberg-Erlangen, sowie Mannheim-Ludwigshafen erlangen aufgrund ihrer (teils künftigen) übergangslosen Urbanität zu ihren Nachbarstädten, den Status einer geografischen Millionenstadt um den Zeitpunkt des Jahres 2040.
Diese Annahmen sind - zugegeben - jenseits (fast) jeder offiziellen Prognose statistischer Ämter, Kommunen, oder wissenschaftlichen Instituten. Immernoch werden zahlreichen Vorhersagen zur Einwohnerzahl Deutschlands bis spätestens um das Jahr 2035 mit sinkenden Werten beschrieben. Zurecht, wenn rein rechnerisch bei gleichbleibender Geburten/Sterbedifferenz sowie eine mäßige Zuwanderung logischerweise dazu führen würde. Nur dürften deutlich steigende Lebenserwartungen um das Jahr 2040 (die Gründe sind vielfältig, z.B. medizinischer Fortschritt) die stetig fallenden Geburtenzahlen (bei weitem) nicht ausgleichen, wogegen die internationale Zuwanderung nach Deutschland so umfangreich sein kann, dass ein leichter, jährlicher Anstieg der Gesamtbevölkerung über sehr lange Zeiträume möglich ist.
Weitab von Deutschland, In Zukunft (innerhalb der 20'er Jahre dieses Jahrhunderts bis 2050) entstehen sehr große Gruppen neuer Mittelschichten in den (neuen) Metropolen z.B. in Indien mit (stand 2023) ca. 230 Mio Wohlstandsbürger, wo wahrscheinlich jeder Zehnte recht ernsthaft an Auswanderung denkt. Allein Indiens Mittelschicht um das Jahr 2030 beträgt mindestens 400 Millionen Menschen, weitere 50 Mio. sind dann "reich" - für indische Verhältnisse, und für immer mehr von ihnen gehört es zur Normalität ins Ausland zu reisen, ja dort zu leben.
2050 leben allein in Deutschland 2,1 Mio Menschen aus Indien (aktuell 200.000 - im Jahr 2020) - ein kleiner Anteil der insgesamt 99 Mio Emmigranten Indiens in die Welt von 2020 bis 2050. Nach eigener Schätzlage von M.d.Z. wandern 2,1 Millionen Inder und Inderinnen nach Deutschland aus - die meisten von ihnen jedoch ab 2030. Aus (Subsahara) Afrika kommen 4,5 Mio. zusätzliche Einwohner allein nach Deutschland, davon allerdings 70% nicht als humanitäre Migranten (Flüchtlinge), sondern als Studenten, Arbeiter, und sonstige mit herkömmlicher Visa eingereiste Neubürger der neuen Mittelschichten Afrikas. Sicherlich die nächste, gewaltige "Welle" neuer Migration nach Deutschland (und allen weiteren Ländern der EU). Auch in China ist und wird Deutschland immer beliebter: So leben stand 2020 fast 240.000 Chinesen hier, bis 2050 kommen noch 950.000 dazu. Ein für dieses Land eher kleinerer Anteil, während Frankreich (1,1 Mio) Großbritannien (1,2 Mio) nur etwas mehr Chinesen aufnehmen, allerdings Kanada und Australien mit jeweils um 3,0 Mio chinesischen Zuwanderern wesentlich stärkere Anziehungskraft im Reich der Mitte ausüben.
Auch aus den USA kommen mit 850.000 Menschen Einwanderer zwar nicht so viele wie umgekehrt von Deutschland in die USA auswandern.
Nach wie vor kommen auch Osteuropäer weiterhin dazu, auch wenn sich deren Arbeitsmärkte zukünftig immer besser entwickeln, bleibt bis 2050 der deutsche Lebensstandard deutlich anders als in den allermeisten Ländern des Ostens in Europa. So sehr, dass ein stetiger Zuzug aus Russland, Rumänien, Bulgarien und besonders der Ukraine, für die nächsten 30 Jahre als sicher zu sehen ist. Umgekehrt emigrieren hundertausende Deutsche ins kostengünstige Osteuropa, sowie Millionen Migranten der vorherigen Jahrzehnte, in ihre alten Heimat. Mit einer deutschen Rente (auch wenn diese oft niedrig sein kann) lebt es sich in Bulgarien, Polen oder Kroatien viel auskömmlicher.
So auch in Südostasien (vor allen Thailand mit großer, deutschen Community), Lateinamerika und Nahost, woher wiederum Millionen nach Deutschland kommen.
Neue globale Ereignisse wie der Klimawandel als "Megatrend" der Natur, geht die Weltmigration als "Megatrend" menschlicher Kultur einher; jeweils sich gegenseitig bedingend, verlagern sich riesige Populationen auf der Suche nach (besseren) Wohlstand, sowie klimatischen Veränderungen (Extrem-Hitze/Wetter/Flutkatastrophen in Indien/Asien/Afrika) sowie Bevölkerungsexplosionen parallel dazu, nach Europa, Nordamerika, und weitere Wohlstandsräume der Welt wie die Arabische Halbinsel, Australien, und auch Südamerika. Regionen die insgesamt mit hunderten von Millionen Migranten nur einen kleinen Anteil der Gesamtheit aller Menschen aufnehmen, die sich zwischen 2020 und 2050 aus dem künftigen Bevölkerungswachstum der Schwellen und Entwicklungsländern hervorgehen.
Deutschlands Anteil liegt bei 28.000.000 von weltweit 800 Mio Migranten insgesamt, zwischen 2020 und 2050.
Entwicklungen nach 2050: Nach 2050 haben sich die Arbeitsmärkte sehr verändert, Robotik und Automatisierungen stellen die humane Zuwanderung in einen anderen Kontext. Ab 2050 dürften jedoch trotz geringeren Bedarf an menschlichen Arbeitskräften ähnlich viele Zuwanderer nach Deutschland kommen; Automation und technologie-Fortschritt lösen auch bis 2060 personellen Bedarf in zahlreichen Dienstleistungen ab. Vor allem in Gesundheitssektor und der Pflege bleibt der Personalbedarf sehr hoch. Allerdings wird eine stärker auftretende Migration nach den Jahren 2040 und 2050 wegen der allgemeinen Lebensqualität in Deutschland begründet sein.
Der Hauptgrund eines stärkeren Bevölkerungsanstiegs ab 2040 in Deutschland ist, dass 2050 oder 2060 noch immer viele Länder Armustprobleme haben und der Wohlstandsvorsprung in Deutschland recht groß bleiben wird. Zumeist sind es finanziell relativ unabhängige Mittelstandsbürger der großen Länder des Südens, die auch aus Gründen einer Klimaveränderung eine erträglichere Umgebung suchen. Auch eine bessere sowie stabilere Lebensqualität kann Europa in fernerer Zukunft weiterhin bieten.
